What is HighMatch best at?
Tailoring the assessment to the role at the hiring decision. Instead of one fixed instrument, HighMatch's I-O psychologists work with you to choose and weight the measures that matter for each job, then benchmark candidates against that role. Buyers who want a consultative, low-pressure process and have a few roles that generic profiles describe badly tend to find it a good fit.
What does the platform include?
Personalized role assessments (currently sold as Compass), built and tuned with HighMatch's I-O psychologists
The Berke assessment, the company's original fixed-trait instrument, still available
A library of measures that can be combined: personality, aptitude, culture fit, emotional intelligence, situational judgment, hard skills and realistic job previews
Candidate reports with a role-fit result and interview questions tied to each candidate's scores
Integrations with common applicant tracking and HR systems, including Greenhouse, iCIMS, Lever, Workday, UKG, Paylocity and ADP
What science is it built on?
HighMatch says its assessments are built and optimized by I-O psychologists and validated against your own employees' on-the-job performance. Many of the personality measures in its role builds map closely to Big Five dimensions under different names, such as warmth, flexibility, resilience and diligence. Much of the published validation comes from the long-running Berke instrument. Ask which measures map to established factors, and what validation exists for the specific configuration you'll use.
How is HighMatch priced?
HighMatch prices per role on an annual contract, scaled to the number of people in that role, rather than by total organization size. A set number of personalized measures is included; adding more carries a one-time setup fee per measure. HighMatch shares pricing in the sales process rather than on its site, and a nonprofit discount is available.
Where HighMatch is strong
Real per-role customization rather than an industry template
I-O psychologists involved in setup, with no buyer certification required
A consultative, transparent buying process
Interview questions generated from each candidate's results
Per-role pricing that can suit organizations hiring heavily into a few roles
Broad applicant-tracking integrations
Where HighMatch runs out
Several personalized measures are renamed Big Five dimensions. The differentiation is in the customization workflow, not in new science.
Validation is often inherited from the Berke instrument rather than published for each configured assessment.
Setup fees accumulate as measures are added, so the cost curve isn't obvious at signature.
Per-role pricing scales awkwardly across a whole organization: every role becomes its own line.
Development is listed as a use case, but the product's track record and reporting center on the hire.
Volunteer, contractor and 1099 populations don't map cleanly to per-role licensing.
Who should choose HighMatch?
Choose HighMatch if you hire heavily into a small number of distinctive roles, you value a consultative build with I-O psychologists, and selection is your primary problem.
When is We by Paradigm the better fit?
When you need one framework across the entire employee lifecycle: every employee, every role, on one validated Big Five instrument with 23 subtraits and published research behind it, with HR governance and organization-level analytics. We also covers contractors and consultants, where per-role licensing breaks down.
Frequently asked questions
What is HighMatch?
HighMatch, formerly Berke, is a pre-employment assessment provider that builds role-specific assessments with I-O psychologists from a library of personality, aptitude and skills measures.
Is HighMatch the same as Berke?
Yes. Berke rebranded as HighMatch. The original Berke assessment is still offered alongside HighMatch's personalized role assessments.
Is HighMatch based on the Big Five?
Not by name. Many of its personality measures map closely to Big Five dimensions, but HighMatch configures and labels them per role rather than reporting Big Five scores.
How much does HighMatch cost?
HighMatch prices per role on an annual contract, with a one-time setup fee for measures beyond those included, and shares pricing during the sales process. See what personality platforms cost for how per-role pricing behaves at scale.
Can I use HighMatch and We together?
Yes. Some organizations use HighMatch for a few high-volume roles at the hiring decision and We by Paradigm as the development layer for every employee. Organizations that want one instrument across hiring and development use We Select for hiring as well.
