What Personality Assessment Platforms Cost

Personality assessment platforms cost anywhere from a few dollars per user per month to six-figure annual engagements, and the pricing structure matters more than the rate. There are four structures in the category: per user per month (what We by Paradigm uses), headcount-tiered subscription with paid modules (Predictive Index), per profile plus facilitation (Everything DiSC), and per assessment plus required certification (Hogan). This guide explains how each behaves as headcount grows and adoption changes.

Why we don’t publish competitor rates. Rates in this category change frequently, vary by deal, and are widely misreported online. Instead, we explain the structures and link to each vendor’s own pricing page.

What are the four pricing structures?

1. Per user, per month (PUPM)

The most predictable model, and the one We uses. Cost scales linearly with the population you deploy to. Used by: We by Paradigm, Cloverleaf. The question to ask: is the rate per enrolled user or per active user? At incomplete adoption, this single distinction can change your effective cost per engaged employee by a wide margin—you may be paying for a population substantially larger than the one benefiting.

2. Annual subscription tiered by headcount, modules priced separately

Common among assessment incumbents. You buy a band of headcount, then buy capability module by module. Used by: Predictive Index. The question to ask: which modules do we need to reach the outcome we’re buying this for, and what does the bundle cost? Whole-workforce development often requires modules beyond the entry configuration.

3. Per profile plus facilitation

The workshop model. The visible cost is the profile; the real cost includes facilitator time, scheduling, travel, and the working hours of everyone in the room. Used by: Everything DiSC and most workshop tools. The question to ask: what is the fully loaded cost per person reached, including facilitator time and participant hours? This number is frequently several times the profile price and is often the largest hidden cost in the category.

4. Per assessment plus required certification

The executive model. Someone must be certified before anyone can be assessed, which adds a fixed cost before any value is delivered and caps how fast you can scale. Used by: Hogan. The question to ask: how many certified people do we need, what do they cost, and what happens when one leaves?

What drives total cost most?

Reach, not rate. A low per-person price on a platform that reaches 15% of the workforce costs more per engaged employee than a higher price on a platform that reaches everyone. Model the cost per person who actually uses it, not the cost per license.

What should you ask every vendor about pricing?

  1. Is this priced per enrolled user or per active user?

  2. What is the fully loaded cost, including facilitation, certification, setup, and per-construct fees?

  3. What does renewal look like, and under what conditions does the rate change?

  4. What happens to cost if our headcount fluctuates, or if we use contractors and consultants?

  5. What is included at this tier, and what requires an additional module?

  6. Is there a minimum term, and what are the expansion terms if we start with one division?

What does We cost?

We by Paradigm is priced per person, per month, with no certification fees, no facilitator multipliers, and no per-profile charges. Renewal terms are transparent and held flat in year two unless headcount changes meaningfully. Typical launch: days, not months, with a light IT lift.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest personality assessment platform?

The lowest headline rate is usually a per-user-per-month platform, but the cheapest platform is the one with the lowest cost per employee who actually uses it. A low rate at 15% adoption costs more per engaged employee than a higher rate at full adoption.

Does Predictive Index charge per employee?

Predictive Index sells an annual subscription tiered by employee headcount, with its modules (Hire, Inspire, Design, Diagnose, Perform) priced separately or bundled. Check PI’s own pricing page for current terms.

What are the hidden costs of DiSC?

The visible cost is the profile. The fully loaded cost adds facilitator time, scheduling, room and travel, and the working hours of everyone in the workshop, which is often several times the profile price.

Do you have to be certified to use Hogan?

Yes. Hogan requires certification before an organization can administer its assessments, which adds a fixed cost before any value is delivered. We by Paradigm offers certification as an option, not a prerequisite.

Is We by Paradigm priced per enrolled or per active user?

Per person enrolled, with transparent renewal terms. Ask every vendor this question; the answer can change effective cost by a wide margin at incomplete adoption.
