RESEARCH & VALIDITY
The science behind the WorkPlace Big Five Profile®.
The Five-Factor Model has accumulated four decades of independent, peer-reviewed validation across cultures and methods. The WorkPlace Big Five Profile® applies that framework and carries its own reliability and cross-national replication evidence.
What research is the platform built on?
Two distinct bodies of evidence sit behind the WorkPlace Big Five Profile®. The first is the Five-Factor Model itself—a personality structure independently validated across four decades of peer-reviewed, cross-cultural research, and not proprietary to Paradigm. The second is the WorkPlace Big Five Profile® specifically: its structural reliability has been confirmed at the trait level, and its factor structure has been independently replicated across multiple international working populations.
What does the research support—and what doesn’t it?
Research supports the claim that a person’s Big Five trait profile can facilitate effectiveness and well-being in some work contexts while creating friction in others, depending on the job’s demands, resources, discretion, and situational constraints. Changes to how work is designed—including tasks, resources, relationships, and autonomy—can alter engagement and, in supportive conditions, performance outcomes.
What the research does not show is that the mere act of assessing personality improves engagement or performance on its own. Measurement without application changes nothing. Stating that plainly is the reason We exists.
