Meet the Paradigm Family


Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Jane co-founded the company and now manages Paradigm today, along with Lisa Dunbar. Jane’s wealth of experience in all areas of workforce development and deep expertise in personality research has won over clients for three decades.

Jane is deeply committed to the Paradigm mission and focuses equally on all clients: from current to future, from domestic to international. She teaches almost all of Paradigm’s certification programs and works with clients in team building, leadership and management training, organization development consulting, and individual coaching.

She has made presentations to and worked with clients in government, finance, utilities, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, education, insurance, technology, construction, and not-for-profit organizations.

With Pierce Howard, she co-authored the first article about the Five-Factor Model of Personality ever to appear in the trade literature. As a Big Five expert, Jane has presented to global conferences, led organization consulting projects, and coached executives from all over the world.

Jane holds a master’s in business administration from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University.


Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer

Pierce co-founded the company—originally called Howard Management Consulting—in 1986 with his partner, Jane Mitchell Howard. Throughout his career, Pierce has specialized in workplace applications for cognitive science, especially selection and assessment of employees. He manages the research division of Paradigm Personality Labs. A true student, teacher, and innovator, Pierce continually seeks the latest in workplace personality research, application, and insight.

Pierce is also a prolific writer.

Pierce holds a Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill in education with a focus in curriculum and research. From 1996 to 2004, he taught both Organization Behavior and Problem Solving for Managers in the MBA program at Pfeiffer University in Charlotte and has also taught in the certificate program in organization development at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and in the Master of Science in Organization Development program at Queens University of Charlotte.

Lisa Dunbar, MBA

Chief Operating Officer

Lisa came to Paradigm from a sales, marketing, and finance background. She spent a decade working in financial services in the United States and Europe, first for Reuters (now called Thomson Reuters) and then for the Chicago Board of Trade (now CME Group). She believes that organizations thrive by centering their strategy around the distinctive strengths and contributions of their people. Lisa’s goal is to help organizations and individuals align strengths and business needs for better bottom-line results.

On any given day, you can find Lisa collaborating with Paradigm’s international partners over Skype, managing new marketing and product initiatives or working with a focus group to optimize client experience. She leverages her experience as a coach to seamlessly switch gears and position Paradigm as a unique leader in the assessment industry.

Lisa holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Ruchi Shah, MA

Senior Industrial-Organizational Consultant

Ruchi is passionate about making the workplace world a better place to be. She enjoys leveraging psychology, social dynamics and organizational systems to help organizations achieve business and operational goals.

At Paradigm, she consults with clients on the use of assessments for a variety of organization and leadership effectiveness goals. She brings expertise, experience, and collaboration skills to provide solutions for clients.

Ruchi is an industrial-organizational psychologist who has worked in organization and leadership effectiveness since 1998, both in India and the United States. She focuses on business purpose and strategy when designing and implementing solutions. Her consulting and coaching experience includes personality assessments, job analysis, talent management, organization development, performance management and leadership development.

Ruchi holds a master’s degree in industrial-organizational psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is an active member of the International Positive Psychology Association, N.C. Industrial & Organizational Psychologists, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the American Psychological Association.
